Colleges test Amazon's Kindle e-book reader as study tool

Studies have been finalized for college students who were given the Kindle DX and told to give their experience on using it as a study tool for their academic coursework. Many students praised these devices for the convenience it provided for them when they were “on the go.” They were able to have access to the abundance of information that they needed and not have to carry multiple binders or a heavy laptop. Furthermore, others mentioned that technological devices such as the Kindle DX save paper and further help this generation’s stance on “going green.” However, some students disliked the fact that the Kindle DX did not allow them to highlight important information in their notes. Also, others complained about the inability to view multiple documents at the same time.

How will the Kindle DX and other technological devices such as the Edge and the iPad further affect the way college students choose to study in the years to come? If tech companies make vast improvements to these devices will students completely ditch the notebooks, binders/dividers, and heavy laptops when taking notes or studying?
